The newly launched Sapeon X330 chip boasts approximately double the computational performance and 1.3 times better power efficiency compared to rival products released this year, according to a company statement. Although specific competitors were not disclosed, Sapeon positions itself as a formidable contender in the global race for advanced AI chips.

Primarily targeted for data centers, the X330 chip, capable of supporting large language models (LLMs) like those used in AI services such as ChatGPT, is slated for mass production in the first half of the upcoming year.

Manufactured by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, the X330 chip reflects Sapeon’s commitment to high-performance AI semiconductors tailored for data-intensive applications.

Sapeon’s parent company, SK Telecom, South Korea’s leading telecommunications firm, provides substantial backing to the AI chip startup. Additionally, SK Hynix, a major shareholder in Sapeon, is globally recognized as the second-largest memory chip manufacturer.

This development underscores Sapeon’s strategic position in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI chip technology, bringing forth a product that not only rivals but surpasses current market offerings in terms of computational performance and power efficiency.
