Graysky, an innovative third-party app for Bluesky, Twitter/X’s competitor

Graysky is rolling out a subscription service with its latest update, aiming to generate revenue by offering exclusive features not yet supported by Bluesky itself. Users can now personalize the app with themes, leverage DeepL for post translations, and enjoy upcoming pro-level features such as custom app icons, poll support, and post analytics, tracking engagement metrics.

The broader update caters to all users, introducing exciting features like Trending Topics, allowing users to stay in the loop about what’s popular on Bluesky. Graysky stands out as one of the first cross-platform third-party apps, available on both iOS and Android, providing users with a unique browsing experience where they can choose their preferred feed upon launch.

Since its October launch, Graysky has gained traction for its rapid development, addressing Bluesky’s limitations and surpassing the official Bluesky app. The app already supports GIFs and plans to introduce additional Twitter-like features such as drafts, bookmarks, muted words, lists, and more in future releases.

Graysky’s Pro subscription, priced at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, offers users an optional upgrade supporting ongoing development while unlocking exclusive features. With over 20,000 downloads, 13,700 on iOS and 6,500 on Android, Graysky continues to make waves in the Bluesky ecosystem.

Key enhancements for all users include a revamped post composer screen, faster performance, language selection, and a “Trending Topics” section. Quick Actions like compose, search, and settings are now supported, alongside the ability to open links in Graysky directly from Safari on iOS. Other improvements include enhanced user suggestions, a “joined date” feature on profiles, tablet rotation on Android, new pull-to-refresh animations, and overall performance enhancements.

The standout feature, “Trending Topics,” accessible from the app’s search tab, adds a Twitter/X-like element to Bluesky, providing insight into the community’s interests, with tags like #furry and #nsfw among the trending topics.

In summary, Graysky’s latest update marks a significant step in bridging gaps within the Bluesky platform, offering users a richer experience and paving the way for future innovations.
