Peugeot Adopts ChatGPT for Advanced Voice Assistance in Vehicles
Peugeot, a brand under Stellantis (STLAM.MI), is set to revolutionize the voice assistant experience in its cars and vans by integrating ChatGPT technology. This strategic move aligns industry peers such as Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, who have already embraced the versatile AI chatbot for similar applications.
Expanding ChatGPT Integration Across Peugeot’s Vehicle Lineup
Jerome Micheron, Director of Product Plan, revealed that ChatGPT would become a standard feature across all vehicles, including the highly anticipated e-3008 model and small commercial vehicles. The company is initiating a pilot version of the ChatGPT service in five key countries—France, Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain. This pilot will enable seamless integration with vehicle controls, allowing the system to respond to a wide array of general and navigation-related queries. The goal is to roll out this advanced voice assistance service as a standard feature in Peugeot vehicles later this year.
Peugeot decision to leverage ChatGPT follows the footsteps of Mercedes-Benz, which conducted a successful trial in the United States last year. Mercedes-Benz allowed drivers to interact with ChatGPT, enhancing the responsiveness of the voice assistant to inquiries ranging from destination details to dinner suggestions. Similarly, Volkswagen has announced plans to integrate ChatGPT into its voice assistant, aiming to enrich interactive dialogue with drivers by mid-year.
In a bid to encourage the transition to electric vehicles, introducing a new eight-year warranty for the e-3008 model. This substantial extension, compared to the current two-year warranty on other Peugeot cars, is designed to incentivize drivers to consider making the switch to electric vehicles. Peugeot envisions this extended warranty as a key factor in driving the adoption of electric mobility.
