Ukraine, however, asserted on Sunday that Russian military forces deployed in parts of Ukraine were utilizing Starlink for communication. In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Starlink is not certified or officially supplied in Russia, and therefore, it cannot be officially utilized.

During a press briefing, Peskov remarked, “This is not a certified system with us; accordingly, it cannot be officially supplied here and is not officially supplied. Accordingly, it cannot be used officially in any way.” He suggested that the discussion on Starlink usage should be left between the Ukrainian government and entrepreneur Elon Musk.

The Ukrainian defense ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence reported on Sunday that units of Russia’s 83rd Air Assault Brigade were employing Starlink terminals in the conflict areas near Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the eastern Donetsk region.

Elon Musk, in a statement on his platform X on Sunday, addressed the situation, stating, “To the best of our knowledge, no Starlinks have been sold directly or indirectly to Russia.” He refuted false news reports claiming that SpaceX, the company behind Starlink, is selling terminals to Russia, categorically stating, “This is categorically false.”
