Kaiber Launches Innovative Mobile App for AI-Powered Music Video Creation

Kaiber

the renowned generative AI creative studio known for producing music videos for artists like Kid Cudi and Linkin Park, has unveiled a cutting-edge mobile app designed to empower creators, musicians, and artists with a suite of AI tools. These tools encompass text-to-video, image-to-video, and video-to-video capabilities.

Established in 2022, Kaiber capitalizes on various open-source projects, including AnimatedDiff, Automatic1111, ControlNet, and Deforum, to name a few. In addition to these resources, Kaiber introduces its proprietary technology layer, amalgamating these elements into a single, versatile artistic tool.

Much like other AI video generation platforms such as Runway, Meta’s Make-A-Video, and Google’s Imagen Video, Kaiber allows users to either upload images/videos or input their ideas to generate dynamic, animated content.

Kaiber offers two distinct animation styles: “Flipbook,” featuring a frame-by-frame effect, and “Motion,” characterized by fluid transitions between frames. Users can specify their desired video aesthetics or choose from Kaiber’s pre-designed themes.

Users have the flexibility to customize camera movements, selecting options such as zooming in/out, clockwise or counterclockwise rotations, and movements in different directions. Moreover, Kaiber accommodates various aspect ratios, tailored to different social media platforms, including 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for TikTok, and 1:1, 3:4, or 4:3 for Instagram. While the current maximum video duration is eight minutes, the company plans to support longer videos in the future. The video generation process typically takes about 30 minutes.

Notably, Kaiber allows users to incorporate their own music, making it a cost-effective alternative for independent artists seeking to avoid the hefty expenses associated with traditional animation studios. Additionally, Kaiber’s app features an Audio Reactivity functionality, ensuring that the output aligns with the uploaded audio.

Kaiber’s co-founder and CEO, Victor Wang

Kaiber

emphasized the user-friendly nature of their mobile app, stating, “Our mobile app brings Kaiber’s core capabilities — such as text-to-video, image-to-video, and video-to-video — into a compact, user-friendly format.” Victor Wang also hinted at forthcoming feature enhancements to achieve feature parity with their web platform.

Alongside the app launch, Kaiber has collaborated with three independent artists to introduce a “Create with” feature exclusive to the mobile experience. This feature enables users to create content using music and generative AI styles tailored to each artist. One of the featured artists is Eric Gao, the co-founder and CTO of Kaiber, who goes by the stage name Oksami and boasts a substantial online following. Users can access and utilize four of his most popular songs within the app.

Regarding commercial rights, users with paid accounts own the videos they create. Free account users receive a Commons Noncommercial 4.0 Attribution International License, allowing them to use the content but prohibiting commercial use. Videos created with free accounts will carry the Kaiber logo watermark.

Kaiber has also introduced an affiliate program that allows creators to earn a 10% commission on subscription referrals, ensuring ongoing compensation as referred customers remain subscribers.

Kaiber’s mobile app is available for both iOS and Android devices, featuring three subscription tiers: Explorer ($5/month for 300 credits), Pro ($15/month for 1,000 credits), and Artist ($30/month for 2,500 credits), with one credit equivalent to one second of video. The cost per credit may vary based on the specific feature used. Additionally, a seven-day free trial is available, offering 100 free credits.

Kaiber, which emerged from beta in May and has now amassed over 5 million sign-ups, garnered recognition through its work with artists like Kid Cudi and Linkin Park and a viral TikTok trend called “Astral Jump.” The company’s studio technology, Kaiber Studios, has supported over 2 million artists with generative audio and video, including Grimes, Wu-Tang Clan, Money Man, Don Diablo, and Mike Shinoda.

Kaiber is entirely self-funded, and despite facing early challenges, the company reported seven-figure gross revenue in its initial months. Co-founders Victor Wang and Eric Gao, childhood friends, embarked on their entrepreneurial journey after their initial startup, Secret Garden, was financially impacted by the FTX crash. They overcame adversity and founded Kaiber, driven by their passion and belief in the transformative potential of AI in the music and visual arts.
