Widgets, a familiar feature to Apple users, now find a new home on the desktop in MacOS Sonoma. It might not be revolutionary, but it’s undoubtedly useful. For example, I coordinate with colleagues across time zones, so having a clock widget displaying Pacific Standard Time is a game-changer for me.

Adding and customizing widgets is a breeze: simply right-click or double-click your trackpad on the desktop to access a menu. From there, you can edit, remove, or even drag widgets from the Notification Center to your desktop. What’s interesting is the ability to integrate iPhone widgets seamlessly into your Mac’s desktop, even without the corresponding app installed. Just toggle the ‘Use iPhone Widgets’ option in System Settings, and they become accessible in the widget browser.

While I’ve favored third-party organization apps, the updated Reminders app in MacOS Sonoma introduces a handy grocery list auto-sorting feature. Creating categorized lists is straightforward: add a new list, designate it as ‘Groceries,’ and create your desired categories. Although the auto-sorting might need a tweak or two, it’s a useful addition to keeping things organized.

macOS Sonoma: Update Now! Features, Compatible Devices, and More
The integration between Mac and iPhone messaging has received a substantial upgrade in MacOS Sonoma. Finally, the iMessage experience on the computer catches up with the phone. Features like tap-back reactions and message replies, previously missing on Mac, are now available. The reply function, allowing specific message responses, is particularly helpful for managing complex conversations or busy group chats. Swiping or using the two-finger click brings up the reply option seamlessly.

Overall, MacOS Sonoma introduces noteworthy features that enhance the synergy between Mac and iPhone, offering a more seamless and integrated user experience.
