Toby Green, one of the co-founders, shared the motivation behind Appetite: “We created Appetite to simplify the tedious process of organizing outings with friends. The existing methods felt disjointed and frustrating. Switching between messaging apps, search engines for unreliable reviews, and booking sites, only to find your chosen restaurant fully booked, creates a disjointed and frustrating user experience. Our aim was to provide a one-stop platform where users could effortlessly receive real-time, personalized suggestions, coordinate plans, and enjoy outstanding dining experiences.”

Appetite boasts a dynamic feed where users can share and explore restaurant lists and recommendations from friends, followers, and favorite creators. The “For You” page delivers tailor-made suggestions, taking into account your preferences, interactions, restaurant lists, and reservations. It’s like having a knowledgeable friend guide your choices.

Within Appetite, the “Groups” feature empowers users to create group chats, where calendars can be synchronized, dining options voted upon, and AI-generated recommendations based on the collective preferences of the group. Additionally, Appetite introduces an AI chatbot, humorously named “Pierre Pomme,” which learns from your and your friends’ tastes to provide tailored restaurant and bar recommendations.

Appetite’s primary target audience comprises dynamic individuals aged 25 to 34, known for their love of culinary exploration and dining out. This strategic choice is supported by the startup’s unique market insights Innovative App and third-party data.

Looking ahead, Toby Green expressed, “Our future plans include capturing the attention of the 18-24 age group. We’ve observed that their dining habits are heavily influenced by content creators, especially those on TikTok. As we integrate creator-generated video content into Appetite’s platform, we aim to align our marketing strategies with this influential and growing audience.”

Having recently secured $2 million in seed funding in September, with contributions from angel investors including Sarah Maxwell, Jonathan Grad, Alok Oberoi, and Lisa Tchenguiz, Appetite is poised to allocate these resources for rapid growth. The company aims to expand its 17-person team, focusing on areas like marketing, product development, and strategic partnerships.

In the near future, Appetite plans to introduce additional features to enhance the user experience. These additions include a community feature akin to Discord, enabling users to request and share recommendations, post reviews, and organize food-related events. The company is also set to integrate video reviews by collaborating with its pool of content creators and influential food enthusiasts.

Furthermore, Innovative App Appetite is committed to supporting its growing community of content creators by facilitating exclusive in-app creator content. Collaborations are in progress with various celebrities, chefs, and influencers to offer monetized content on the platform, such as cocktail-making masterclasses, exclusive recipes from renowned chefs, and personalized city guides.

Toby emphasized, “While our primary focus is on expanding our user base, we are also dedicated to creating an app that users will want to return to daily. Therefore, we plan to incorporate gamification throughout the app, in collaboration with our strategic partners. We’re excited to offer a variety of rewards and discounts based on user engagement with gamified features.”
