This innovation, known as One Zone, is poised to make a substantial impact on data-intensive applications, including AI/ML training, financial modeling, and high-performance computing. While capable of handling objects of any size with ease, AWS emphasizes that One Zone excels in scenarios where applications need to access vast amounts of small files, thanks to its low-latency access. Notably, One Zone can read these small objects up to 10 times faster compared to S3 Standard.

AWS is also committed to delivering cost savings, assuring a 50% reduction in request costs for users.

To facilitate these advancements, AWS is implementing specific changes in the backend, introducing a new bucket type and authentication model for access, along with a slightly modified naming scheme.

The newly introduced S3 Express One Zone tier is now readily available for use.
