DistroKid Unveils Android App Following Successful iOS Launch

DistroKid, the renowned independent music distribution service, has officially introduced its Android app, marking another milestone after the successful launch of its iOS counterpart earlier this year.

DistroKid  With a robust set of features mirroring those of its iOS sibling, the Android app caters to artists’ diverse needs. From seamless track uploads directly from mobile devices to real-time payment alerts, detailed analytics from platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, to the flexibility of editing song metadata – DistroKid’s Android app is poised to empower musicians on the go.

This announcement comes amid a series of significant developments for DistroKid in 2023. In April, the company rolled out “Mixea,” a cutting-edge mastering tool priced at $99 per year. This tool equips artists with functionalities like rendering tracks “radio ready,” optimizing bass, and facilitating high-quality audio uploads.

Expanding its portfolio, DistroKid acquired Bandzoogle in September, a website-building tool tailored for musicians. Founded by Chris Vinson in 2003, Bandzoogle enables artists to directly sell music, tickets, and merchandise to their fanbase. At the time of acquisition, Bandzoogle powered over 60,000 sites, with a staggering $100 million in inventory sold to date.

October saw DistroKid further enhancing its reach by allowing artists to upload their music on ByteDance’s TikTok Music service. As part of this collaboration, DistroKid artists gained the opportunity to showcase their songs on the popular CapCut video editing software.

DistroKid, founded by Philip “Pud” Kaplan in 2013, is no stranger to success. The company secured its latest funding round in 2021, achieving a remarkable valuation of $1.3 billion. This recent Android app launch is yet another testament to DistroKid’s commitment to providing innovative tools and services for artists navigating the dynamic landscape of the music industry.
