DoorDash New Safety Tools Empower Delivery Drivers

DoorDash In an exciting move is rolling out three innovative in-app safety features

DoorDash aimed at enhancing the security and well-being of its valued delivery drivers. The trio of updates includes the introduction of “Driving Insights,” a broader Apple CarPlay integration, and real-time speed limit notifications integrated into the in-app navigation system.

The standout addition among these features is “Driving Insights.” This groundbreaking tool offers delivery drivers a comprehensive analysis of their individual driving behaviors. Leveraging the location data already gathered from their mobile devices, the Dasher app can now identify sudden shifts in acceleration and braking. DoorDash’s goal with this is to empower drivers with the knowledge needed to encourage responsible and safe driving practices.

Initially, “Driving Insights” is available to drivers in several key cities, including Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Cleveland, Miami, Charlotte, Palm Beach, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City.

DoorDash’s earlier pilot program for Apple CarPlay integration has now expanded to cover 17 cities across the United States. These cities include Washington, D.C., Des Moines (IA), Sarasota (FL), Little Rock (AR), El Paso (TX), Huntsville (TN), Toledo (OH), Grand Rapids (MI), Rochester (NY), Myrtle Beach (SC), Reno (NV), and Augusta (GA). This seamless integration empowers DoorDash drivers to effortlessly sync their iPhones with their car’s infotainment systems, gaining access to the app’s navigation interface directly on their car’s built-in screens.

Moreover, DoorDash has taken a step further by introducing on-screen indicators that display a driver’s current speed relative to the posted speed limit. This feature is now available to all drivers using the in-app navigation system.

These enhancements are a testament to DoorDash’s ongoing commitment to driver safety. The company has already initiated measures to reduce notifications sent to drivers while they’re on the road, discourage customers from texting drivers during their deliveries, and implement a user-friendly one-tap messaging system, enabling drivers to send quick messages like “I’m en route to the store” or “I’m awaiting your order.”
