Flavrsformer global head of creator marketing at YouTube, and François Chu, a former Google engineer, Flavrs made its debut in September 2022. The startup has secured $7 million in seed funding from notable investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Wellington Access Ventures, and celebrity chefs.

With these exciting updates, Flavrs is evolving from being a recipe-discovery app to an all-encompassing culinary companion. In addition to exploring recipes, users can now place takeout orders directly from the app. If you stumble upon an enticing video from a restaurant, Flavrs seamlessly directs you to platforms like Uber Eats and other delivery providers to fulfill your order. It’s a one-stop destination for all your culinary needs, from sourcing ingredients to ordering takeout and even purchasing chef-approved kitchen equipment.

The app is also delving into the realm of artificial intelligence with a tailored integration from OpenAI. This integration enables personalized content across over 30 food categories, encompassing cuisine, cooking techniques, allergen information, recipe complexity, dietary restrictions, and estimated preparation time. When creators upload their content, they input plain text recipes and videos. Here’s where Flavrs shines with its groundbreaking feature – it transforms plain-text recipes into “smart” videos.

These videos are not just for viewing; they are shoppable, cookable, and comprehensible to Flavrs’ systems as actual food. This innovation allows the platform to recommend content to users in unique and highly personalized ways. It also streamlines creators’ work, eliminating the need for manual tagging and content filtering, which is now automated by AI in a matter of seconds.

Alejandro Oropeza emphasized how this integration turns plain text into engaging, personalized content tailored to each viewer’s preferences. Since emerging from stealth mode a year ago, Flavrs has witnessed astonishing growth, with an 80-fold increase in its user base and an eight-fold growth in its community of content creators over the past three months.
