Google Commitment to AI Education in Europe
Google, operating under its investment entity, has allocated 25 million euros (equivalent to $26.98 million) toward advancing AI education across Europe. This financial commitment aims to empower individuals with essential AI skills, with a specific emphasis on addressing prevalent disparities. Collaborating with social enterprises and nonprofits, Google endeavors to target those most in need of AI training. Additionally, the company plans to establish “growth academies” to aid businesses in leveraging AI for scaling their operations. Furthermore, Google has broadened its array of free online AI training courses to accommodate learners in 18 different languages, thereby enhancing accessibility.
Adrian Brown, the executive director of the Centre for Public Impact, emphasizes the significance of equipping individuals across Europe with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the AI landscape. This initiative underscores dedication to narrowing the digital skills gap and promoting inclusivity in the AI era. Separately, Google recently announced a $1 billion investment in the construction of a new data center near London, reflecting its strategic efforts to expand infrastructure in response to the growing demand for internet services in the region. The data center, situated on a 33-acre site in Waltham Cross, approximately 15 miles north of central London, represents a pivotal step in ongoing expansion endeavors to support the evolving digital ecosystem.
