This versatile feature caters to a spectrum of needs, whether it’s a basic task like altering the background color behind product images or a more sophisticated request, such as placing a product in a specific scene. For instance, a skincare company can now effortlessly transition from a summery vibe, “surrounded by peaches with tropical plants in the background,” to a winter aesthetic, envisioning the product “sitting on snow surrounded by pine branches or pinecones.”

Professional Images with AI

Beyond aesthetic transformations, the generative AI model proves its prowess by enhancing low-quality images without necessitating a reshoot and seamlessly eliminating distracting backgrounds, as highlighted by Google. By integrating AI imagery capabilities, businesses, irrespective of size, gain the capacity to generate professional images for their ads without recurrently investing in new photography sessions. This feature is poised to complement existing product photography, enabling businesses to repurpose assets across various campaigns, be it seasonal promotions or thematic endeavors, without replacing the original photoshoot.

Available to all Merchant Center Next users in the U.S. and accessible through the Google and YouTube app on Shopify, this feature is set to roll out starting today. The AI launch coincides with additional updates for merchants, including the introduction of a “small business” attribute on Google Search and Maps. This attribute, automatically assigned based on factors like product offerings and web traffic, serves to highlight brands that identify as small businesses. Businesses retain control over setting or removing this attribute via the Merchant Center or their Business Profile at any time.

Enhanced Shopping Experience with Knowledge Panel

In an effort to enhance the shopping experience, Google plans to enrich the knowledge panel, providing shoppers with more comprehensive information when searching for merchant names on Google Search. Beyond the traditional details like business location and employee count, the panel will now showcase current deals, shipping and return policies, customer service details, and ratings and reviews. Drawing from Merchant Center data augmented by authoritative information from the web, Google aims to further connect consumers with businesses, a testament to the panel driving over 2.3 billion monthly connections to U.S. businesses in 2022. This upgraded knowledge panel is set to roll out this month, promising a more informed and enriched shopping journey for users.
